When Life Is Right.
A perfect duality; the stillness of the eternal Ullswater reflections against the ancient craggy mountains…
Sometimes, you have to choose your moments. Sometimes, these moments are when you’ve just got home from work and decide that the only right thing to do is to change clothes, pick up all your photography gear and head to the monumental lake of Ullswater to shoot some late evening reflection awesomeness. =)

Wrestle of Elements.
A storm stampedes towards the Derwentwater fells, who stand resolute and braced for another battle…
This was shot on the first evening of our Keswick break, right on the Northern shore of Derwentwater looking towards the distant fells. It wasn’t exactly the sunset we were looking for, but still an awesome sight nevertheless. =)

Unity On The Water.
On the last full day of our Keswick break, me and Lisabet made our way towards the tiny fell hamlet of Watendlath. But on the way, I espied through the trees gloriously clear reflections on Derwentwater, the kind I’d been looking for all week! We soon found a parking spot, leapt out of the vehicle, and started shooting all down the south and east shore of the lake, marvelling at the stillness of the water, the calm of the early morning and the colours all around us. =)

Valley of Plenty.
For time, it has been a Life Goal of mine to fully explore and photograph one of Britain’s most beautiful, epic and favourite scenes. Recently, I had the opportunity to do so. Welcome to Wastwater, officially Britain’s Favourite View.
During our break in Keswick, me and Lisabet took the opportunity to head right around the west coast of Cumbria to get to this ridiculously epic place and spent an entire day wandering up and down the lakeshore, shooting photos galore and drinking in the calm, timeless atmosphere. This photo was shot towards the end of the day, near the South-East foot of the lake and Wasdale valley. The peaks you can see are, from left to right: Yewbarrow, Great Gable and England’s highest mountain Scafell Pike.
Yes, the lake water really was that blue. In fact, I had to tone the blueness of the water down in processing! =)

Portal Above Fleetwith.
Allow me to share with you how my day was: I brewed, and enjoyed, fine Yirgacheffe Beloya coffee, I wandered about around my beautiful hometown of Kendal, I bought and consumed incredible chocolate from The Famous 1657 Chocolate House, I drank wine and I processed photos from our exploration around the North, Central and Western parts of the Lake District. All days should be like this.
Here’s my first release from this trip: this is Buttermere, a lake in the central Lake District. It’s extremely scenic as you can see, with the peak of Fleetwith Pike in the centre sitting at the Southeastern head of the lake, surrounded by mountains. I timed the shot with the movement of the clouds when it appeared that a little sky portal was forming above the summit of the mountain and glowing in the reflections of the lake. =)

Poetry In Reflections.
I can see why English Romantic poet William Wordsworth enjoyed the lake of Rydal Water; it lends itself to easy circumnavigation and there’s a lovely view to be seen every few steps. Fortunately, me and Lisabet were blessed on this day to have excellent light when we shot Rydal Water, and calm water, which gave off these glorious, glowing reflections of the sky, trees and distant fell. =)

Wordsworth’s Lake.
Spring is finally here and so me and Lisabet took advantage of recent gorgeous to hike around Rydal Water in the Lake District. We were greeted with warm sun, fluffy clouds, blue skies and glowing water. =)
Though a pretty small body of water, Rydal Water is quite famous in the Lake District, largely because of its association with legendary English Romantic poet William Wordsworth, In fact, at the western end of the lake, you can Wordsworth’s Seat, which is considered to have been Wordsworth’s favourite viewpoint in the Lake District.

Tarn of Man.
Tarn Hows is definitely a lake I have to visit again. It’s actually been helped by the hand of man; there was of course originally three tarns here before they were merged into one (and you can see more beautiful photos of them here).
This was shot on Boxing Day, so pretty darn cold! And not a lot of lush vegetation around. Also, this photo saw some severe cropping going on, I had originally shot it with my sweet, sweet Tokina 11-16mm but preferred a tighter crop to maximise those reflections!

Edge of Kielder.
You can get an impression of just how massive these Kielder Forest pines are when juxtaposed with the tiny figure of my Lovely Lady. =) Part way around Kielder Water, the Lakeshore Path drops off with these wonderful craggy rocks, offering perfect views of the water and the landscape beyond. =)

Catching the Light.
It’s been rather a lovely day today, so me and Lisabet decided to take advantage of the longer day and dry spell by rushing home, getting our hiking gear on and heading out to Elterwater.
We were getting some wonderful light on the drive into the heart of the Lake District; I even saw some lenticular clouds, which really excited me! Once we arrived though, the light was quickly fading and a thick layer of low cloud was steadily covering the area. Elterwater is rather tricky to shoot; it’s mostly surrounded by thick forest with marshy land, making access to the shore extremely difficult, so this was the best vantage point I could find, a world of glowing purple and yellow highlights with the blanket of thick cloud slowly encroaching upon the distinctive peaks of the Langdale Pikes. =)
